I've been in Paris and it was... different. No fireworks and only a few people that drunk alcoholic drinks on the streets (I think just all the tourists)

. Totally different to Germany. I missed the fireworks very much but it was great to stand in front of the Eiffel Tower and counting down the seconds to midnight. There were much of policemen in protective equipment, wearing machineguns... also something needs to getting used to... but surely reasonable. Altogether I'm bound to say that Paris is a great and beautiful city with its old buildings etc. but New Year's Eve with those huge crowds (of people) are not my thing at all. It's also a pity that it seems that some Parisians still don't like German people
